Article I - Name
This is a non-for profit organization and shall be known as Mineral Area Modeling Association, also known as MAMA.
Article II - Purpose
The Mineral Area Modeling Association is formed for the purpose of encouraging and promoting the hobby of radio controlled model aviation. Safety is of top concern. This organization is also formed to create a family atmosphere where pleasure, recreation, fellowship, and co-mingling can be fostered and found to exist amongst individuals enjoying the sport of building and flying R/C airplanes at all levels in a setting where informality and safety of operation prevail.
Article III - Meetings
Meetings will be held on the first Tuesday of each month at a location decided by the voting members of the organization. Special meetings can be called by the President of the organization when special circumstances exist. Any member may make a request to the President for a special meeting but the President shall be the one to call the meeting.
Article IV - Organization and Officers
The governing body of this organization shall be the voting members in compliance with the constitution and by-laws as set forth in this document.
The officers of the organization shall be a President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer elected by open members by simple majority. A Field Marshall and Safety Officer shall be appointed by the President. Other positions may be appointed by the President such as committee personnel for a specific function.
The officers shall be nominated and voted in during the November meeting of each year. The term of office will be for one year beginning January 1st to December 31st.
Article V - Duties of Officers
1. Duties of the President
a. To preside at all meetings of the organization.
b. To have general supervision of the organization.
c. To appoint any person or committee not otherwise ordered by
the organization.
d. To represent the organization on proper occasions.
e. To assist all officers of the organization in their duties.
f. To promote interest in the organization and activities.
2. Duties of the Vise President
a. To perform the duties of the President in his absence.
b. To promote interest in the organization and activities.
c. To collect photos and Documentation of the history of the
organization for archives.
d. Assist other officers in their duties.
3. Duties of the Secretary
a. To keep records of the meetings.
b. To maintain relations with A.M.A. concerning the
organizations activities.
c. To handle all club correspondence.
d. To perform other such duties that would fall into that office.
4. Duties of the Treasure.
a. To collect dues from all members.
b. To collect other monies due to the organization.
c. To pay obligations of the organization only from the assets of
the organization that is approved by the voting members.
d. To record all money transactions of the club.
e. To report monthly at regular scheduled meetings the financial
statement of the organization.
Article VI- Membership
1) Membership in MAMA shall be open to any and all persons who are a member of Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA), agrees to abide by the constitution, by-laws, and other officially promulgated rules and regulations of MAMA while engaged in MAMA related activities and maintain dues in good standing. However, if a person had been remover from MAMA under Article VI Paragraph 3, refer to Article VI Paragraph 4.
2) Membership in MAMA shall not be denied to any person because of race, creed, color, or handicap. Membership must be approved by a majority vote of the voting members present at a regular scheduled meeting. Membership shall be declined if the voting members consider the applicant a liability that would destroy the purpose of the organization.
3) If after a person is accepted as a member to MAMA and they attempt to destroy
the purpose of the organization or fail to abide by constitution, by-laws, and other
officially promulgated rules and regulations while engaged in MAMA related
activities, they shall be presented by any MAMA voting member to the other voting members for possible termination. A membership can be terminated by a 3/4th majority vote of the total voting members in the organization.
4) An applicant whose request for membership has been declined or a membership terminated may petition the officers of the organization for a hearing to reconsider the membership. In such an event the applicant shall be provided an opportunity to present oral and written evidence on their behalf to the officers. After such hearing if the officers of the organization find information that may not have been considered by the voting members the membership may be sent back to the voting members for reconsideration by a unanimous vote of the officers.
5) There will be four kinds of memberships: (1) Open member, (2) Family member,
(3) Junior member, (4) Honorary member. All members while engaged in MAMA related activities shall show the highest degree of sportsmanship and integrity and shall pledge to abide by the constitution, by-laws of the organization, and all other officially promulgated rules and regulations.
1. Open member - Each open member shall be entitled to all privileges of
Membership and shall pay dues.
2. Family member - Family members shall be entitled to all privileges of membership with the exception that they may neither vote nor hold elective office. Family members may either be the spouse of an open member or a child or grandchild under the age of eighteen. If a child or grandchild wishes to engage in flying activities, they must become a junior member. Family members are non-due paying members.
3. Junior member - Each junior member shall be a member of the AMA and under the age of eighteen. Junior members are entitled to all privileges of open members with the exception they may neither vote nor hold elective office. Junior members are non-due paying members.
4. Honorary member - Honorary members must be nominated for membership by an open member and voted in by a simple majority of open members. Honorary members are non-due paying and non voting members. Honorary members may hold this membership for a period of three months while training and applying for AMA membership.

Article VII - Membership Dues
Open members shall pay dues at least monthly. Advanced due payments will be accepted. Dues will be voted on by simple majority of present members at the November meeting of each year.
Article VIII - Order of Business
Robert's Rules of Order on Parliamentary Procedures shall be used at all meetings unless otherwise provided in the By-Laws or Constitution.
The order of business at all organizational meetings shall be as follows:
1. Reading of minutes from previous meeting.
2. Treasurer's report.
3. Old or unfinished business
4. Committee report if any
5. New business.
6. Open discussion, show and tell, announcements
7. Adjournment.
Article IX-Amendments
Amendments to this Constitution and By-Laws may be made by a 3/4th majority vote of the total voting members of the organization. The amendments must be submitted in writing to the membership at a regularly scheduled meeting and the vote conducted either in person or by written ballot.
Article X-Property
Any property owned by the club shall be the property of the club as a whole and not the property of any one individual or group of individuals. This property shall include the club treasury and any tools and/or equipment purchased by the club or donated to the club.
Article XI- Flying Site Rules
Flying site rules will be written within the guidelines of AMA to promote safety as top concern. Flying site rules should be reviewed annually at or around the February meeting. A copy of the rules shall be posted at the flying site and a copy to the Park Superintendent. Flying site rules will be attachment #2 of the document.
Article XII- Activities
MAMA will promote fellowship within the club by hosting family picnics and a Christmas dinner.
MAMA will organize trips to flying events and swap meets.
MAMA will conduct at least one event each year to promote public interest into model aviation.
Article XIII- Bereavement
MAMA will send flowers to the family of club members when an immediate family member passes away. Immediate family is defined as mother, father, grandmother, grandfather, son, daughter, grandson, granddaughter and the same on the spouse's side.
Article XIV-Disbanding
If for any reason the club is either forced to or decides to disband, the club property shall be advertised for sale and sold to the highest and best bidder. The moneys resulting from this sale will be added to the club treasury, and after settling any outstanding club debts the remainder will be donated to a charity decided by MAMA.
